My great friend and musical mentor Jonathan Chalker has just released a brand new EP from his superb electro project LowHero.DLL. This new release, titled Worse than Digital, features six original tracks and a cover of the Australian act Snog's infamous smasher "The Ballad". Taking the man versus machine concept to an entirely new personal level, Jonathan's latest release on Glim Records oozes with electronic pop hooks, sensibility and charm, deceptively convincing you to lower your mental guard while his edgy social commentary hooks its barbs deep into your psyche. Melting the superficial gloss and plasticity of typical contemporary electropop, Worse Than Digital targets the carbon fiber facade of modern ephemeral technology and offers a glimpse to the future. And as if that wasn't enough, there are five additional remixes (including one by Testube). Enough ten cent words already - check it out! keep reading »
Herbert, the Misanthropical Fly is a twisted but fun little app for the iPhone featuring a knockout soundtrack by musical guru Justin Lassen. Justin hit me up for a remix not too long ago, and that remix has just been released as part of the Herbert Soundtrack Remix Album! As Justin points out, this release is amazingly diverse, covering "everything from dub step to metal to industrial to pop to orchestral, drum n bass, IDM, glitch-tech..."
The excellent Re:Automation Radio has just released the latest digital sampler in their Re:Sound series, titled Synthetic Articulation. Featuring 15 total tracks of experimental IDM, Rhythmic Noise and Electro-Industrial, this release includes an exclusive new version of the Testube song "Off Purpose", as well as contributions from Type001, Lucidstatic, LPF12, Sleep Clinic, Tapage, Yura Yura, and more! Enjoy this latest release and support underground music!
The incredible post-industrial sludge-rock act I, Parasite has just released the second installment of their Assorted Debris collection of rarities. I've been following Christopher Jon's musical output for many years now, and it's always a treat to hear some of the unreleased material that didn't make it onto their official releases, for one reason or another. Included in this digital release are rare demos, live cuts, and other unreleased tracks from 2002-2007, including remixes from Testube and my talented friend R010R.
