Teaser clip released for new Testube album "Backwater"

Filed Under:

In 2012, I went off-grid, building a small cabin nestled deep in the Ozark Mountains. It was an interesting experiment, and I learned a few things about myself, but living without electricity isn't very conducive to crafting electronic music. My workstation was very minimal, consisting primarily of a laptop, usb-powered midi controller, and headphones. All of my synths, samplers, and drum machines were tucked away in storage. I would charge my laptop at the library when I went into town, and use it until the battery gave up. It was very frustrating! As a result, some of the tracks on this new album have been in the works for over ten years. The result is "Backwater" - a collection of 17 diverse tracks that have been held back for too long. The album is currently being mastered and will be released via Bandcamp on April 1, 2022 - no fooling! Pre-order here: https://testube.bandcamp.com/album/backwater

I'm happy to say that my studio, while still relatively minimal, is now fully powered and I expect my musical output to drastically increase. I hope you'll stay with me as I re-acquaint myself with the music industry and unleash the latest sounds of TESTUBE upon the world.

THEMSELF single released as LGBTIQ fundraiser

Filed Under:

I'm excited to announce the release of a new music video for the Testube song titled "Themself". When our daughter came out to us as a teen, we wanted to surround her with our most unconditional love and acceptance, to ensure that she felt the confidence and support she needed, to truly be herself. While I certainly know what it feels like to be rejected for being different, I can't imagine how terrifying it can be for a young LGBTIQ person striving to become their true authentic self. Some of these youth are treated with disgust and hatred by those around them, even by their own families. It is also common for some LGBTIQ youth to be forced from their home, with nowhere to go. With that in mind, this video was produced as a fundraiser for TRUE COLORS UNITED, an organization founded by the one and only Cyndi Lauper, that is implementing innovative solutions to youth homelessness that focus on the unique experiences of LGBTIQ young people.

New Genome project by Point Source Electronic Arts!

My friends over at Point Source Electronic Arts have just released GENOME - a stellar sampler consisting of 20 eclectic electronic artists and sound designers who have created an array of dazzling sounds based on a common set of samples. It's a fascinating project, akin to working with a single set of audio dna, yet yielding completely different results. I'm honored to have my exclusive track "Suction Pore" as the opening track!

The Fifth Wavelength is out!

Have you checked out the latest CRL Studios compilation, "The Fifth Wavelength"? Featuring over 40 tracks across three volumes (including an exclusive Testube track poking fun at our former Cheeto-in-Chief and his rabid acolytes), this is an excellent sampler of dark and eccentric electronic music!
