more studio problems - returned the glyph

Well, I decided to return the Glyph hard drive. It was working, but not very fast. In fact, it was stuttering all over the place. I tried it with several different firewire cards and none of them solved the performance problems. Then the folks over at Sweetwater tech support were nice enough to send me a replacement drive. It didn't perform any better, so I can only assume that my PC is the bottleneck. What a pain.

Ever since I switched over to computer based recording, making music has been frustrating. Regardless of how often I upgrade, the technology always seems to be one step behind the number of tracks and plug-ins that I want to run simultaneously. I've tried numerous DAWs and audio interfaces, and it has taken a long time to find a combination that is intuitive and stable.

But now it looks like my computer is in need of replacement, in order for it to keep up. Considering how little money I make off of this music project, it makes it hard to justify the expense.
